Professor Luke van der Laan

Summary

Professor van der Laan is a former C-suite executive, CEO and current board member, and an internationally recognised business (foresight, leadership and strategy) scholar. His extensive publication record demonstrates his leadership in the fields of strategic leadership, design, systems, and strategic foresight. He has consulted for Deloitte and UNESCO on complex international projects and advised national public institutions. His scholarship extends to advising a global top 10 ranked university and others. He holds numerous university, professional body and research institute leadership positions internationally. 

Professor van der Laan is a prominent academic whose international collaborations include being the Australian lead for the global EDHEC FutureFIT study. His experience includes being a programme director of graduate research programmes for more than a decade and more recently designing an undergraduate suite of business courses including strategic, futures, systems and design thinking aimed at enhancing undergraduate capabilities in the context of advanced technologies. He has published numerous book chapters and books that have received international recognition, including Foresight and Strategy in the Asia Pacific Region: Practice and Theory to Build Enterprises of the Future (Springer) and Work & Learning: A Knowledge Base of Theory and Practice in Australia (Peridis).

Professor van der Laan is an accomplished teacher and research supervisor as is demonstrated by his teaching of undergraduate, postgraduate management and methodology courses with high student satisfaction ratings.
